Lung Health Program- IHHN

Asthma is one of the two most commonly occurring chronic respiratory diseases globally. Healthcare professionals apply their knowledge and skills to screen and diagnose these patients. This E-course has been developed to provide them with information based on updated best practice international guidelines (Global Initiative for Asthma, GINA 2023). By the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 


  • Identify patients of asthma based on signs, symptoms and risk factors 

  • Assess supportive tools for symptom control and diagnosis (baseline and follow up) 

  • Describe an exacerbation and its management 

  • Classify medications according to their action and indications in adults and adolescents

  • Deliver asthma related education to patients 



Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is one of the two most commonly occurring chronic respiratory diseases globally. This E-course has been specially developed to provide them with information based on updated best practice international guidelines (Global Initiative for Lung Disease, GOLD 2023). By the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 


  • Identify patients of COPD based on signs, symptoms and risk factors 

  • Assess supportive tools for symptom control and diagnosis (baseline and follow up) 

  • Describe an exacerbation and its management 

  • Classify medications according to their action and indications 

  • Deliver COPD education to patients

Objectives:


  • To provide basic information about various aspects of inhaler usage and dealing with commonly occurring problems in this regard
  •  

  • Providing links and illustrations to OLD doctors to help understand inhaler techniques and find available options
  •  

  • Additional information on devices available to treat special cases
  •  

  • On completion of course and based on individual assessment, course completion certificate will be issued
  •  


 



Aim:

  • To provide competence in the functions required for the OLD respiratory nurse.

Objective:

Use a blended learning program including video based courses and on-site hands on training to:

  •  perform spirometry
  •  teach inhaler techniques
  •  perform ACT and CAT
