Course Description:

·         This course aimed to furnish learners with the knowledge and skills to care for an adult patient admitted to the hospital with a disease condition. 

·         It emphasizes effective utilization of the nursing process to provide care to the client and facilitate them the restoration of optimum health. Assessment Tool has been utilized for recognizing the responses towards disease process on individuals and their families and plans care accordingly. 

·         Specific nursing skills and procedures necessary to care for ill patients are included.

·         Learners are exposed to a variety of clinical settings to integrate theory into practice under supervision.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course, the learners will be able to:

 1. Discuss the disease process, medical and surgical management, including patient education for clients experiencing the following disorders:

a.     Hematology Disorders

b.    Immunological Disorders                                                                              

c.     Fluid, Electrolyte, and Acid-Base Balance and Imbalance                       

d.    Cellular adaptation and aberrant cell growth

e.    Gastrointestinal Disorders

f.     Genitourinary Disorders

2. Discuss the purposes, indications, and nursing care of clients undergoing medical, surgical, and diagnostic procedures related to the above-mentioned disorders.

 3. Utilize the nursing process when caring for adult clients and their families related to the above-mentioned disorders.

4. Integrate knowledge of pathophysiology, nutrition & pharmacology for clients experiencing the above-mentioned disorders.

5. Begin to recognize the need for integrating research-based information in the care of clients.

 6. Demonstrate awareness of the importance of legal and ethical issues in nursing practice.

Course Description: An introduction to the content and skills needed to assess the basic health status of individuals of varying ages. These skills can be applied to nursing care in a wide variety of clinical settings. This course emphasizes history taking and physical examination skills.

 Course Objectives: By the completion of Year II, learners will be able to: 

1. Systematically assess the health status of an individual by obtaining a complete health history using interviewing skills appropriately.

 2. Utilize proper techniques of observation and physical examination in assessing various body systems.

 3. Differentiate normal from abnormal findings. 

4. Record findings in an appropriate manner.

 5. Demonstrate an awareness of the need to incorporate health assessment as part of their general nursing practice skills. 

6. Apply knowledge of growth & development, anatomy, physiology, & psychosocial skills in assessment & analysis of data collected.

Course Description:

This course teaches basic mathematical skills which are tailored to the needs of the nursing practice.

 Course Objectives:

By the completion of this course, learners will be able to:

1. Solve the different problems of Fraction, decimal and percentage by using four fundamental operations (+, -, x, ÷), addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

2. Apply the Ratio & Proportion method to solve word problems.

3. Discuss simple drug orders.

4. Explain SI, Apothecary, British and Household systems.

5. Solve the problems based on conversions within the system.

6. Interpret simple drug orders.

7. Solve the word problems based on conversion from one system to another system.

8. Interpret the scale on syringe.

9. Compute I.V. flow rate.
