Course Description:

This course enhances the knowledge and skills required for advanced nursing practice in community setting. It will help the learner to develop his/her ability to practice with communities by applying planning cycle with the integration of major concepts of the community as a partner, health promotion across life span, and epidemiology and research . The course will also address global health, demography, and developmental issues in relation to the diverse roles of nurses in community health.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, student will be able to:

  1. Analyze the current population health issues in Pakistan in relation to the role of the community health nurse (CHN).
  2. Explain the environmental, legal, ethical, social, political, and economical dynamics of the community and their effects on health.
  3. Introduce the advanced concepts of Reproductive Health.
  4. Adopt the role of the community health nurse as a care provider, educator, manager, and researcher, in the community at large.
  5. Participate in health and development projects with the help of planning cycle, in the community setting.

Apply the concepts of Primary Health Care, Health Promotion, and Community as a partner, Epidemiology, and demography in the community setting.
